Matt Foerster is a trial and appellate lawyer focused on insurance and commercial disputes. He litigates cases in state and federal courts across Texas.

He frequently represents insurers in a broad array of litigation, ranging from coverage disputes and defending bad faith claims to premium fraud and review of agency action. He counsels workers' compensation and employers' liability insurers on their defense and indemnity obligations, subrogation activities, and claims handling. He represents policyholders seeking coverage, and he represents businesses in complex commercial disputes. Across his practice, Matt also serves as embedded appellate counsel in the trial court—briefing dispositive motions, seeking mandamus relief, managing jury charge issues, and positioning cases for appeal.

Matt earned his law degree with honors from the University of Arkansas–Little Rock and externed at the Arkansas Supreme Court. He is admitted in all state and federal courts in Texas, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, and the U.S. Supreme Court. His pro bono appellate work in parental-rights termination cases earned him membership in the Pro Bono College of the State Bar of Texas.

Matt was a professional referee in Major League Soccer before hanging up the whistle in 2014. He now enjoys watching Austin FC games with his family from a more relaxed vantage point.
